The University Women’s Club (UWC) Scholarship was established in 1915 for the purpose of assisting academically meritorious women students at the University of Kansas with financial aid. The fund was endowed at the Kansas University Endowment Association (KUEA) in 1985, and the earnings from the fund are used each year for the awards.
All KU women students who have successfully completed at least one semester of course work (12 hours for undergraduates, nine hours for graduates) at KU are eligible for consideration.
The intent of the scholarship is to assist meritorious KU women who need financial assistance. The selection committee will consider not only financial need, but also the major being pursued, the number of hours completed, the grade point average, availability of scholarships in the field being pursued, community or volunteer service, activities and leadership roles while at KU, and plans to use the degree following graduation.
The Scholarship Committee looks forward to interviewing a talented pool of applicants in February for scholarships to be awarded the following April.
Scholarship funds may only be used for expenses at the University of Kansas during the academic year following the spring when the recipients are named.
