Who are we?

University Women's Club members support KU women's scholarship, serve the local community, and promote friendship and belonging. Formed in 1900 to help women take advantage of the educational, cultural and social heritage of KU, our club lobbied for housing for women students, and in 1915, founded what is now KU’s longest continuous scholarship program. Over time we’ve moved toward more inclusive membership. We welcome KU faculty, staff, their spouses, Greek house directors, and KU graduates.

Scholarship: UWC offers annual awards to help women pursue educational goals at KU.
Service: UWC members contribute time and talents to recurring or special events at the University and in the Lawrence Community.
Social: From mentoring newcomers to keeping retirees involved, UWC fosters companionship. Each fall, members sharing enthusiasms form new interest groups as established groups welcome additional participants.

You can join UWC at any time. An inviting feature of membership is the freedom to choose which interest groups and events to attend.Be involved as much or as little as you wish.
